Were also Africans committing genocide against each other before the white colonial powers arrived?

That depends on how you define genocide. Various African peoples engaged their neighbours in war - and practised black-on-black slavery.

    Go figure.

If they were, they were not the only people doing it. The Roman senator  Cato the Censor advocated the destruction of Carthage. What he said after every speech he made was abbreviated by historians to "Carthago delenda est." ("Carthage must be destroyed.") And it was said in the British Parliament about the Dutch (to get rid of a rival maritime power) and the Germans (during World War Two)

Source(s): WIKIPEDIA: "Carthago delenda est" with promping from Asterix the Gaul ("Asterix in Rome" ) and John Maddox Roberts "S.P.Q.R." novels. Amazing what trivia bits come to mind from reading popular fiction.

Yes, that is absolutely correct. Genocide has been occurring since neanderthalls walked the earth.

There may have been a few genocides but not as a rule. Of course the were hundreds of wars and battles before the white colonial powers arrived. I am not sure you understand what the word "genocide" means. Words mean things.
