If the South had won their civil war, they would currently be either part of the British Empire or commonwealth. They were fighting a war of attrition in hopes of them getting involved, which was mainly why Robert E Lee was searching for that legendary Napoleonic Victory. He was fighting on the offense the entire time in what should have been a defensive war, mainly for this reason. To strike discouragement into the Union and to win foreign support.

After the Battle of Gettysburg debacle it was too late and his gamble failed. It is interesting how many don’t know the British role in the civil war, it was much more than you think.

That's so leaps to end up somewhere bonkers.  If the South had "won" they would have seceded and there would have been protracted skirmishes and tensions regarding settling the West.  Maybe other countries would have taken advantage of the vacuum.  The US would not have been positioned to become a superpower.  Mexico might have become a bigger player.  Maybe Canada would have bought Alaska instead of the US.

Sure, it's a lot of "ifs."  The further back in time you go the more "ifs" there are.  The 1860s was also a crucial time for the development of the US.  The South's aim was not to take over the north, it was to secede.  Do you really think they were going to play nice during the westwards landgrab?  This would have been a very welcome dilution of US interests from Mexico's point of view.
