How many major rivers are there in India?

Define " major"
It could be anything from two to twenty rivers.
The map in the link below shows over 50 rivers.
But definately at the top of the list would be the Ganges and the Brahmaputra.

There are nine important rivers of India and they are: The Ganges, Yamuna (a tributary of Ganges), Brahmaputra, Mahanadi, Narmada, Godavari, Tapi, Krishna, and Kaveri.
