IF you're willing to lock people up for the rest of their lives

for being convicted of ANY crime

    not as punishment

    but to protect society

    then: yes.

    Otherwise: no.

Alternately: you can just execute anyone convicted of a crime

    not a punishment

but in order to protect society from the criminal.

Or...can you think of a DIFFERENT solution to crime

one that does not involve punishment?

    No.

Proverbs 19:19A man of great wrath will suffer punishment; For if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.

2 Peter 2:4-11 New King James Version (NKJV)

4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to [a]hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of [b]dignitaries, 11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

    Proverbs 21:15 [Full Chapter]

It is a joy for the just to do justice, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.

Proverbs 16:8Better is a little with righteousness, Than vast revenues without justice.

Proverbs 17:23A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back To pervert the ways of justice.

Proverbs 21:3To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

Proverbs 28:5Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the Lord understand all.

Then do you prefer the Pennsylvania founded system of the real penitentiary.    I think its original practice and intent exterminated  much evil.

🤔 We have a 5050 chance of surviving that.

    I don't gamble. So... no.

Yes.   We should defund police and have no punishment for wrong doing.  People will live in peace and harmony because it’s the right thing to do.
