Can I use Facebook Photos of a former Political Candidate in my state, or is it Copyright Infringement?

I want to use them on a Facebook group I’m creating. I would contact who ever took the photos and ask if I can use them, but they have no indication of who took them.

Update:

I want to use photos that were taken while he was campaigning l. So that would he Public Domain?

No, it would NOT be public domain.

That said, the copyright owner would be the photographer, not the candidate.

    Usually, it would be.

However, one exception is photographs taken by the federal government, or by federal employees (military or civilian) as part of their job.  You can sometimes find "public domain" photographs to use.

I would think that as political people, those would be 'public domain' ..................................
