What early version of Robin Hood depicted him in a red outfit instead of a green one?

The Rogues of Sherwood maybe. I am not so sure it is red, I think it is supposed to be a brown. The 1938 version might have been colorized different, I am pretty sure it was black and white.

Robinhood and the Pirates looks red to me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Hood_and_the_P...

Early versions of the Robin Hood tales were oral history, so they were not illustrated.

Howard Pyle was the illustrator of a 19th century version.  Perhaps he or the publishers clothed Robin in red.

Or you might have seen a picture of Will Scarlet or Gil of the Red Cap (the Sheriff's best archer.)

"The Roaring, Real Adventures of Red Robin, the Red-Robed Recidivist".
