1929 model a ford ..what is the best way to remove the fuel shut off valve with out messing up the fuel line threads?

Get a set of flare nut wrenches. Soak valve over night in Break Free. Hold valve itself with padded pliers. 

Some old stuff just breaks after  91 years. Why aftermarket replacement places are in business.
