If you can't subtract 1 from 4, then you aren't old enough to be on this site.

The VP would finish and complete the dead presidents term.....which is a 4 year term. So Harris would complete whatever fraction of that 4 years is left.
She would then have to run for RE-Election, same as anyone , in 2024.
Lyndon Johnson took over for Kennedy, and finished his first term. He thrn ran for re-election in 1964. and won.
Ifffffffff a VP must complete MORE than 2 years of a President's term......than THAT is considered their first term.
No person can serve more than 10 years in a row.
Johnson only completed a year of Kennedy's first term, so he *was* eligible to run two more times......but he DECLINED to run again in 1968......because of all the Vietnam War nonsense............but he COULD HAVE, if he wanted to........and ultimately served 9 years......instead of 8.
But he didn't.

Yes, they finish the 3 year term, that is the purpose really of the VP. They really do not do a lot more other than keep advised on everything going on in government so that they can take over if necessary. Kind of like being an understudy.

The remainder of the term, and is then still eligible to run for two terms of their own. It’s currently the only way a person could be president for more than eight years.
