A true sports car has two doors, rear wheel drive, and a soft top.

Now days insurance companies think a four door sedan with GT badges and a funky spoiler on the trunk lid is  a sports car .

    Not even close.

It is not a sports car.  The mainstream models are superminis or sub-compacts in the U.S..  The ST model could be considered a hot hatch, but not a sports car.

Not really. The ST version is pretty fast but would be classed as a hot hatch rather than a sports car per se.

Not really although they do handle quite well. But if you ever buy one avoid the automatics at all costs they had some serious transmission problems and there is a lawsuit against them. However, the manual transmissions are quite good.

No. But they do make a sports version. The Fiesta ST has 200 bhp. In that light body that means quick!
