In boxing/MMA, where did the term "father time" come from? Why do they call ageing/going past prime that?

Just wondering.

No one knows where the saying ''father time'' originated, but the ancient greeks associated Chronos, which is time, with their diety cronos.

Father time is just a personification of time. People age and diminish physically, this is why people in boxing say that ''father time is undefeated''.

It's not a boxing phrase, it's just a term that people use to refer to old people, well people who are considered too old to still be doing whatever they are still doing, in the case of boxers, father time boxer are those who fight into their 40's and are still the top dogs and successful.
