Is there a certain position of where the bride and where the groom stands in front of the altar? ?

Does one certain stand on the left side and the other on the right side when they marry or do they choose their own position?

The bride stands to the right before the officiant...left facing the guests.  And the groom stands to the left of the officiant right facing the guests.

You are the groom, and you will be told when to approach the altar, and you stand in front of the minister,a little to the right and wait for the person giving the bird away to bring her to your left side.

Generally (or at least, in most Christian ceremonies) the bride is on the left, and the groom on the right as you face the altar

In European or American culture it's traditional for a woman to be on the right when walking with a man. For this reason, a bride usually stands to the groom's left, so that she will be on his right when they turn and march away.

That really depends on who is administering the ceremony, whether or not it's affiliated with a church, what church it might be, and what culture the marriage is taking place in. It's not a set thing that's the same in every case.
