It's been suggested that in The Great Gatsby that Tom Buchannan was, in reality, Jay Gatsby's brother.  Do you think that's a possibility?

It's quite clear in the book that Tom Buchanan bears no relation to Jay Gatsby, and disdains him for lack of upper-class generational wealth, Ivy League education, etc. Tom Buchanan's provenance, background, family is too well known for there to be any possibility that Jay is related to him in any way.

But Tom Buchannan was raised wealthy and Jay Gatsby was not. Was Jay an illegitimate brother? And Daisy went back to...Kentucky?...with Tom Buchannan to live his wealthy and social lifestyle with him instead of staying on Long Island with Jay. Couldn't she have gone back to Kentucky or wherever with Jay Gatsby if she wanted to? I suspect the answer is no.
