Is MIT a good place to study actuarial science? If so, what should I major in?

MIT is a great place to study Mathematics, but if all you want is to become an actuary, I'd suggest a university considerably less high-powered than MIT.  It doesn't sound as though you are MIT material.

Actuaries usually major in math. I assume MIT has a good math department but you could probably get the same preparation for a career as an actuary at lots of much cheaper and easier schools. I doubt your resume will be strengthened much by your alma mater in this area.
