Is Trump getting money from Russian oligarchs?

European bank shares fell on Monday after thousands of leaked files released over the weekend showed how a number of major institutions had engaged for years in handling up to $2 trillion in dirty money.

The documents are part of a collection of files that belongs to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, an agency operating under the Treasury Department to detect and prevent financial crimes, and were first published by BuzzFeed News and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

There are a lot of records to search through and goodness knows what might be exposed. There is already a suspicion that a major donor to the UK's Conservative party may have clandestinely received money from a Putin ally.

According to reports, they can find nothing about President Trump in them. After all, they were examined by the Mueller Team for just that very purpose.

It looks like the money laundering laws just require banks to note when they think it is happening but they can continue with the trades. So it is really just a big surveillance operation.

Then when they need to get dirt on someone, e.g. Trump, they scour the records to try and find something incriminating. The purpose is obviously not to stop money laundering but to provide evidence to catch anyone you dislike, you hope.

Typically, banks will be fined if they are found to be breaking the law. That means that the banks just need to factor in the fines into their business model. Maybe it is time to start locking up the CEOs? After all, they claim they earn the big bucks because they shoulder all the responsibility.

Of course he is.  Why do you think he doesn't want to show us his tax returns after promising repeatedly that he would show them to us?
