Biostatistics Homework question help?!?!?

Which graph has a higher standard deviation and why? 

  Graph A m = 8.33                  Graph B m = 5.00

    Without actually computing the standard deviations, it is clear that the data in graph A tend away from the mean, while the data in graph B tend to cluster about the mean. On the other hand, the range of data in A is much less than that in B.

    It might be best to compute the standard deviations, but I would then have to question the given information. Graph B has a symmetric distribution, which makes it easy to see the mean, 5.5. That conflicts with the given mean of 5.00.
