My kid says homework is slavery, because it’s unpaid labor. What can I tell him to help him understand that it’s for his benefit?

It's not slavery because it's his choice to go to school to obtain an education. Homework is principally designed to improve an individual, similar to exercise, and the suffering that entails both these activities leads to improvement of the individual. It's up to the individual whether or not this is appropriate compensation. It's good that your son seems to exhibit critical thinking skills, but it's also clear he lacks self-discipline, and I hope you try and work better with him on that in the future.

"We do lots of things without pay."
We raise and nurture children without pay for example. We go to the grocery store and shop without pay as well. We make our beds, clean our rooms, and take showers without remuneration.
And, finally, we do our homework without pay. Why? Because we get more than pay back in return for our efforts. We get knowledge and understanding back so that we can actually function in this world on our own. Do you really want to live with us for the rest of your life?
Then you best do your homework.

Tell him your going to get on food stamps so he will get paid with his choice of food for working at home, pay=no slavery.

Don't bother. If he is too stupid to realise he is wrong he'll never get it.
If he can master the phrase 'Do you want fries with that?' then he
can go out into the world and find out what slave labor is. At least you tried.

That child has a good business head! Don't let him get started on the work he does actually at school.
But do remind him who cooks his meals and clothes him and buys him books and games and a computer etc without expecting payment.

Tell him/her that he/her will grow up ignorant. Nobody wants to emply or socialise with ignorant people.

Tell him slavery is an unfortunate part of life. Dad a mom work like slaves because they know they have a family to care for, feed and clothe. The fact is you earn a lot more as a slave to society if you are well educated, and to be well educated you need to do your homework.

Homework is an investment then. Not paying in $, but the better he does know, the more $ he'll get in the future (in the form of good jobs due to good education/career path). Also homework does pay, not monetarily, but it pays in building character and increasing worldly knowledge in general. Kid has got to think bigger picture here~
