how do I quit wanting to live in Chicago ?

    Go there in January, then go to San Diego, that will make you change your mind

    maybe live in a suburb.  naperville, downers grove, oakbrook, lisle, warrenville, lombard, and other towns can have good living and still be accessible to downtown chicago.

    Your question doesn't make sense.  If you want to quit wanting to live in Chicago, don't move to Chicago.  Duh!

    Spend a week there and see how it goes.  That is,  of course, if you don't get shot in a crossfire
