Do you think lockdowns are a waste of time?

They don't do anything. The virus will still be out there waiting for you when lockdowns

They had lockdowns in places like China and New Zealand, and now they have no problems. The US never had lockdowns and is a mess, the most dangerous country to live in right now because of the uncontrolled spread.

Lockdowns are the only way to stop the spread, unless everyone wears masks.

If people doesn't maintain the lock-down then yes it is wastage of time!

To some degree yes. It is also very unusual to quarantine people who are NOT sick (usually it is the reverse). Sweden chose not to do lockdowns for those without symptoms and they are in far better shape compared to the USA. The initial lockdown was needed to prevent the massive overburdening of hospitals with sick patients. We also did not immediately know exactly how deadly or contagious this virus was. Initially, there was an estimated fatality rate of 2%-15% for those who contracted it. We now know it is not anywhere near that high, especially for younger and healthier people.

No.  The US would have close to no infections if everyone did what science said to do.  Trump down-played the virus which makes him guilty of murder.

I think they were fine with the virus first got here and experts were trying to figure out what we were dealing with. That said, it has gone on way too long. The virus has a 97-99% recovery rate and affects primarily the elderly and those with underlying health issues. We shut down the world for a 99% recovery rate. It's time we acknowledge the virus's existence, and yet, get back to normal life.

    You've missed the point.

Lockdowns were never established to keep us safe until the virus went away.  They were established simply to keep so many of us from getting infected at the same time that we would more-than-fill-up the hospitals' respirator beds, forcing doctors to choose which sick people would be admitted for treatment and which would be sent home to drown and die.  Lockdowns were established just to protect the hospitals from being swamped - not to provide defense for the population until the virus was no longer a concern.  They aimed to preserve our ability to treat the sick - NOT to prevent people from GETTING sick.

Eventually, once we started to learn more about the virus, lockdowns were continued or re-established as needed in order to minimize the number of us who would get sick before they could be vaccinated.  At first, we weren't even sure we COULD invent a vaccine.  Once we became fairly confident it might be possible, the aim of our lockdowns changed.  We THEN started using lockdowns in the hope of preventing people from getting sick.

1/3 to 1/2 of Americans have had COVID-19 so far. They say the vaccine will come out around this time NEXT YEAR. By then, at least 100 million more Americans will be infected. The lockdowns were supposed to be for a few weeks to "flatten the curve" and prevent overcrowding in hospitals (which never happened). Continuing lockdown will just prolong the inevitable and cause more economic ruin. If you reopen at this point, I don't see any more people getting COVID-19 than if they kept everything closed for another year. This is because people are going to leave there house anyway and most people will eventually have caught it. We need to reopen the country and the economy. If people are that afraid of catching coronavirus, then just stay home. Not that hard.

No. It has a limited lifespan when it’s outside, several hours at best. If there’s nobody for it to infect, it will eventually disappear, which is the miracle that trump was talking about but that dumbass failed to note that it can’t reproduce if it doesn’t have a host. By trying to get the economy, that miracle didn’t happen.

If the entire world went on lockdown and quarantine until everyone tests negative for the virus, the virus would be eradicated.
