The articles of incorporation prevent the CEO from 'taking' all the profit--that's one reason businesses incorporate--to protect employees and infrastructure.  Gates doesn't own the entirety of Microsoft anymore--he owns a stake in it--and probably quite a lot--but not all.

Bill Gates has no current relationship with Microsoft.

    He left employment in 2000

He resigned from Chairperson of the board in 2014

He resigned from the board of directors in 2018

No.  He doesn't own it.  He probably still owns some stock in Microsoft, but he has sold or given away a lot of it.

Bill Gates isn't one of the richest men in the world because he's sitting on piles of cash. His wealth is in ownership of Microsoft stock. The shareholders own Microsoft, not Bill Gates.

    "cause he owns it"

Bill Gates only owns about 1% of Microsoft.  He's not even in the top ten largest shareholders.

The largest shareholder is The Vanguard Group at just shy of 8%.

It appears you don't understand even the most basic fundamentals of business and investing.   Microsoft is a publicly owned corporation.   There are gazillions of outstanding stock shares and anyone who owns even one share owns part of the company.

Pretty much anyone who owns shares in a stock mutual fund is one of Microsoft's owners.

  • He could sell.  However, it would be worth considerably less than its book value.

It would be extraordinarily hard. The board of directors would not allow that to happen without profound legal and financial consequences.

I don't think that you have any understanding on how stock works.
