Did Earthworm Jim peak too early as a franchise character?
Earthworm Jim made his debut in 1994 when Earthworm Jim the video game came out for Genesis and Super Nintendo. He was declared the best newcomer character of 1994.
However, fast forward a few years later and he (like many others) was to make the transition to 3D. But by 1998, Earthworm Jim fell off as he stopped being the most prominent quirky platformer in town, as he became eclipsed by Banjo-Kazooie around the same time.
Since the 3D game no longer had the charm that the first two Earthworm Jim games had, is it fair to say that Earthworm Jim peaked too early or did he peak at the right time?
