Because reality is not obliged to follow FICTION...

  • Fiction does not have to respect the laws of physics.  We do.

Because he's a fictional character.  In reality you can't fly without a means of pushing against gravity.  Birds and airplanes fly by 'pushing' against the air with aerofoils and wing beats.

While I don't believe DC has a canon explanation for the physics of his flight, various authors and sources have dropped hints at what that author thought would make a plausible explanation.

At first, all Superman could do is leap really far because of how strong he was.  Hence the "leap tall buildings in a single bound", but the early Superman cartoon, the animators were annoyed animating this leaping and asked DC to change to power to flight to make their lives easier.  That's how it actually came about.

In one comic, Lex Luthor theorizes that Krypton was an exceptionally strong gravity planet and Kryptonians developed some kind of anti-gravity organ.  Another writer went further and claimed that Superman has actual gravity manipulation powers...which would make sense as to why he can lift something that would not support it's own weight with a single point of contact where Superman held it...like a ship.  He might be making the whole thing lighter.

John Byrne retconned Superman's abilities as being entirely psychokinetic.  Meaning he flies by lifting himself with his mind.

Because he's Superman, and you are not.

Scientifically speaking Humans do not have the power to lift themselves above certain heights and the reason is gravity. Humans do not have wings and even if we do have it would need too much energy to lift the lightest human being.

Superman is a fictional character who due to plot armor gets stronger due to Sun and Gravity does not work on him.
