 What is the average force on the bullet as it moves down the barrel? ?

 A 7.58- g bullet is moving at 538.00 m/s as it leaves the 0.57- m-long barrel of a rifle. What is the average force on the bullet as it moves down the barrel? Assume that the acceleration is constant.

    m = mass of bullet = 7.58 g = 0.00758 kg

    Δx = length of barrel = 0.57 m

    v0 = initial velocity of bullet = 0 m/s

    v = final velocity of bullet = 538.00 m/s

    a = constant acceleration = to be determined

    F = applied force on bullet = to be determined

    Δx = 0.5t(v + v0)

    Δx / 0.5(v + v0) = t

    t = Δx / 0.5(v + v0)

    t = 0.57 m / 0.5(538.00 m/s + 0 m/s)

    t = 0.002118959 s

    v = v0 + at

    v - v0 = at

    (v - v0) / t = a

    a = (v - v0) / t

    a = (538.00 m/s - 0 m/s) / 0.002119 s

    a = 253,898 m/s²

    F = ma

    F = (0.00758 kg)(253,898 m/s²)
