Would moisturiser cream be absorbed more by the skin if warm water was applied first?

yeah, water usually helps the skin absorb moisture more.

Yes. If you wash your face with warm water and then do your skin care, the products will absorb easier and more effectively as heat and steam “opens” the pores. Cold water “closes” (shrinks) them.

There are a lot of moisturizers that say to apply to damp skin, but this isn't always true because some moisturizers have an element of abosorbic acid and therefor the other ingredients are meant to be delivered quickly into the skin.
