Can cold temperatures affect a TV?

Ive got quite an old Panasonic TV. The screen has perodically started going white (no picture) but with sound, it does come back eventually. It hasn't done this since March when the temperatures were cooler. I unplug it when not using it instead of leaving it on standby. Could the cooler room temperatures be causing this as I have not yet started using my heating and it didn't do this over the summer. Any advice appreciated.

LCD screens are affected by temperature.

They work best in about the same range people do.

Cold slows them down and excessive heat often makes them go black,

sometimes all over and sometimes in splotches.

You must live where it can snow in July.
