How does total protein differ from c reactive protein? ?
Been struggling with post covid syndrome and on my blood work my total protein was good but everyone in the support group talks about c reactive protein. What's the difference between the two? I never had the c reactive

It’s not tested for covid, it’s a specific marker for inflammation made in the liver. Various things elevate it, so it’s just a nonspecific screen test. Total protein is different, it’s a measure in the blood of the amount of albumin and globulins. Disease, digestion, hydration etc impact total protein. Many things are made chemically of molecules that make them “ proteins” but they are not all the same thing
