If I'm born in canada and I was raised in canada and my ancestors came from England 200 years ago I'm an English not a canadian?

    If you were born in Canada you are a Canadian.

    Sorry, it doesn't work that way, aiui, it is always the birth place that counts but I have heard of dual citizen ship.

    Just imagine if your parents birthed you in America and they are citizens of Canada and brought you back to Canada from America from vacation.
