Is there an external battery you know of that can support the laptop for 4 extra hours once the internal battery ran out?

Some laptops have the ability to swap batteries. If yours can, just buy an extra battery. You charge it with the laptop. If your laptop does not support that, you can buy a UPS.

Hi. You can do this with any "UPS backup" device, or You can look into "portable generator" devices that run about $150 for one with enough wattage to run most modern laptops (about 95watts average, some business or gaming models run at 150watts or above).

They're basically like a car / motorcycle battery in a box with some protective

electronics to keep Your devices from getting huge power spikes that can fry them.

          G'Luck!!!.

There are many external 18.7 VDC (or similar voltage) battery packs for laptops available.  You have to choose one that has the correct plug for your laptop's socket.  Search Google.  That is all that can be suggested from only "laptop" and no details at all.

Here is one for various brands:  https://www.amazon.com/Krisdonia-50000mAh-Portable...
