If temperature and number of molecules are constant, then the entire right side of the equation doesn't change. If the right side of the equation doesn't change, then the total of the left side doesn't change.

If the product of two numbers doesn't change, then increasing one number decreases the other by the same factor.

As an example:

AB = 2A x 1/2B
