Are the following ones grammatically correct?

1. The laminator machine that I have bought was with defect, so I this morning I went in post office and did the devolution.

2. The laminator I bought was defective, so this morning I went to the post office and made the return.

    "Devolution" has totally not the right meaning for what you want to say. It is enough to say that 'devolution' has a political meaning.  'Was with defect' is not natural.

    No. 2 starts well, it should finish: "....post office and sent it back."

    I write from Britain, await answers from Americans etc.

    The second is better, but the last clause should be "and returned it or to return it.
