Modern man is gullible ignorant and lazy. For hundreds of years (till the Impressionists) artists looked up at the Greeks as a model of fine art. Art must include aesthetics and artistic principles. Shame on the museums that they display this junk.

Yes, Modern Art is a hoax and a scam. The painting shown is not worth a penny to sane and objective people. I heard that one artist inserts capsules of pain into his rectum and blasts them out onto canvases when he "onara".That is Crap Art the ultimate conclusion of modern Art. If it sells for millions, someone is a terrible fool to pay so much for junk. It should be flushed down the toilet, rather than be bought for millions. Modern Artists lack the skill of the painters of the Baroque period when painting reached its zenith. Now, we have another Dark Age in painting. Good artists cannot compete with the s con artists.

If such art did not exist it would make no difference to the homeless.
I think you are confusing two entirely different and unrelated things.

That painting was made by Jackson Pollock, just after WW2. 75 years ago it was original. If you can do better, go for it. That is expected to make up to $18 million.
I actually like it, but not enough to buy it.

go to any homeless shelter in SF or LA. all the homeless or 100% of the homeless can make this art. The art will be 100 -times than this phony pollack -painting.
All the homeless can make modern -art.

Scam. Throwing crap on a canvas is not art. A toilet full of crap that you can flush is not art.

I don't call that "modern" art, instead abstract. Art is art, not a thing unique to any time period. Abstract art that looks like a 4 year old just lobbed paint at a piece of paper is not art to me.
