Why is the dollar sign not on the shift+s/presshold s?

    The standard keyboard largely derived from mechanical typewriters.  Typewriters never recognized "press hold" which is more of a concept from smart phones.  They needed a standard keyboard that only used "shift".  Shift "S" makes more sense for caps then for $. Since "press hold" doesn't exist on a mechanical typewriter it was put on a number key that obviously does not require capitalization.

    SHIFT with s → capital.S.............use ALT and 36 together for dollar sign.......also ALT and 156 for pound sign............ALT with 0128 → sign of euro ....
