    From Car and Driver:

"The 2021 Toyota 4Runner is one of the most rugged mid-size SUVs on the market, but also one of the oldest and least refined. While its sturdy body-on-frame construction and off-road-oriented options make it seriously capable when the road ends and bolster its outdoorsy image, its plasticky interior and inefficient V-6 engine are notable flaws."

Obviously Obi Wan is referring to using one as a primary off-roading vehicle and that is  hard on vehicles not like the occasional excursion through the woods or deserts are going to hurt anything serious.

No.  No mass produced 4X4 is built to handle off road use, no matter what the commercials say.  Even a Hummer is built for road use, not all terrain.  Off roading will beat the living hell out of any vehicle really quickly.
