What type of mutation is this?
What type of mutation would an insertion mutation in an mRNA sequence that turns a codon into a stop codon be called?
Example:
mRNA: AUG AAA CCC UAU CGG ...
Insertion of G between UA and U, so:Mutated mRNA: AUG AAA CCC UAG. (UAG codes for STOP)Would this be a nonsense substitution mutation or an insertion frameshift mutation?

So...your question is "does this INSERTION count as a SUBSTITUTION or an INSERTION?"
Yeah, that's a headscratcher, that one is.
