In conversations about someones health issues, your part of the conversation should be about concern, sympathy, and/or willingness to be helpful. Leave it to the afflicted person to make his/her own decision regarding how much they want to share about their condition's causes, treatments, symptoms, etc.

I would find that very rude and probably tell the person it was none of their business.

Depends on the relationship/connection between the person doing the asking and the recipient of the question.

No, it is not OK, as a normal social enquiry..  They might have got the disease in embarrassing circumstances and thus not want to talk about it.

Depends on the disease.  Anal  syphilis not so much.

Of course not.  It's disturbing that you'd even have to ask this question.

If you were a doctor then it is ok.

Probably depends on the disease in question. "Wow, how do you think you contracted dengue fever, have you been traveling?" is different from wanting every detail that lead to a syphilis diagnosis.

Yeah sure, as long as you think it's ok for people to ask you how you got to be so rude

Not specifically, it can be to personal to ask.  Although it is acceptable to ask if they know how they caught the disease as long as you are willing to accept the yes or no answer.

If you are authorised to track the spread of diseases such as Covid, yes, you can ask infected people where they have been to try to contain the spread of the disease. If you are a doctor treating the person with a disease, and knowing how they got it is relevant, then you are entitled to ask. Apart from that, I can't think of any reasons why someone  would need to know how a disease was acquired.
