What is a job that involves data and things?

Recently on my ACT, it mentioned that I liked working with data and things.

I like having some sort of authority, and being in charge of something. (Hence, I was a shift manger at a fast food restaurant my sophomore year of high school!)

As I'm deciding my major for college admissions, I want to get an idea of possible majors and careers.

You can be a Data analyst for a company. Data analysts ascertain how data can be used in order to answer questions and solve problems. They study what's happening now to identify trends and make predictions about the future. They are like detectives, figuring out how things work and helping to make sense of everything.
