Catalina Island, California?

Hi, I am thinking about going to Catalina Islands in December and was wondering if it was a good idea based on weather and the worth of even going there. If so, what can I do and what is the recommended local places/food to visit?

you can't go with this covid19 shutdown they just started til dec 28th

Avalon is basically 1 smallish street and that is about it, the other two harbors is tiny.  What the weather will be like is very random, you would have to look closer to your time of travel. 2-3 days is about all you need, many places require a 2 day minimum. The water however will be cold.

There are days in Long Beach that are in the high 90s in December.

Rare, but not unheard of.

Just like on the mainland, it's going to be dependent on the specific days you go.

There is only local places in Catalina.  It's predominately one street.

You will have to research the covid restrictions that are in place.
