A box that has a weight of 449N is sliding down a 31 degrees incline. If the force of friction acting on the box 217 N, what is the acceleration of the box down the incline?

mass = 449 N / 9.8 N/kg = 45.8 kg

component of weight parallel to slope = 449 sin 31 = 231.3 N

force down the slope = component of weight parallel to slope – friction

F = 231.3 – 217 = 14.3 N

a = F/m = 14.3/45.8 = 0.312 m/s²
