practice. the easiest thing to do is learn to start thinking about everything. for every choice you have today, imagine you deny or gratify yourself. then imagine the worst possible consequence that could come from that. get into the habit of doing this all the time. don't waste time on speculating about the benefits or satisfaction from one course of action, only its most negative aspects deserve serious regard.
