Two different fluids fill a container. Since they have different densities, one floats on top of the other. If the lower fluid is glycerol with a specific gravity of 1.260 and a depth of 90.0 cm and the upper fluid is crude oil with a specific gravity of 0.790 and a depth of 70.0 cm, determine the absolute pressure (in Pa) at the bottom of the container.

    abs p = Σρgh + 1 atm

    Taking 1 atm = 1.01e5 Pa we have

    p = (1.260*0.900m + 0.790*0.700m)*1000kg/m³*9.81m/s² + 1.01e5Pa

    p = 1.18e5 Pa = 118 kPa
