Is High Definition, digital color Television just a fad, like 3D was in the early 1950's?

3D was and still is a fad. Not even comparable to the building of better tvs these days.

HD is pretty much standard these days. I don't know what you mean by digital colour.
From my own point of view HD to 4k isn't a big jump until you take into account the increased colour range. The resolution bump isn't much of a bonus unless you have a large TV but the increased colour range is what makes it worthwhile.

No, but I still don't like HDTV.
It is "too realistic" for my taste.

No, because it is demonstrably better than CRT TVs

Trump wants us to go back to black and white analog TV.

The difference was that 3D didn't really deliver what it promised. Digital HD is demonstrably clearer and crisper than older models.
