If $400 or more is from your own business, work as an independent contractor, self-employment, or any combination of these, then you should be paying self-employment tax.

If none (or less than $400) is from those things, you should not be paying income tax, except possibly if you are a dependent or are married to someone who itemizes deductions.

If you are buying things that are taxed, you should be paying sales tax.

Employers must deduct taxes; how do they know how little you will be making?  They don't.   At $3K a year you will get a refund of taxes withheld when you file your income tax return.

You still must pay FICA (social security) regardless of how much you earn.

If your income is from an employer the answer is no. However, if you are self-employed, you will not pay income taxes although you will be required to file and pay your social security taxes.

If that is your entire income and it is on a W2, no income tax, yes FICA taxes.  If it is 1099, you will pay no income tax, just self employment tax.

Social security tax is 6.2% and medicare is 1.45% on wages earned from regular employment. Those taxes start with the first dollar you earn and are automatically withheld by your employer every payday even if you claim "exempt" on your tax forms.

If your income is $3k per year, then you won't owe federal income tax and should claim exempt on your W4. If your employer withholds money for federal income tax you can file a tax return at the end of the year and get a refund.

If your income is $3k per month (or per paycheck or per week or whatever) then you'll probably earn enough to owe at least some tax.

State taxes vary and you haven't your mentioned location.

Your income is 3k per WHAT?   Week?  Month?  Year?

What kind of taxes are you referring to?   Federal income?  State income?  Social security/medicare?   Sales tax?

Simple answer is yes.  It's doubtful that any human being can live in the USA and avoid paying ANY tax.

But since you gave absolutely ZERO meaningful information, no one can answer your question.
