Big red flag. Start planning your exit strategy. 

Dogs have good intuition about people. You can tell a lot about a person by how your dog responds to him when they meet for the first time. 

And you can tell a lot about how your likely to be treated and talked about by the way a man talks about his ex.

I would take such a threat as a direct threat to yourself.
