So what is PlayStation 5 blue ray edition? Is it just the regular ps5? I see a buying price on stockX?

The PS5 comes in two variants. 

One has a BluRay drive, so it can use games supplied on discs and also play BluRay movies.

The second is cheaper as it lacks an optical drive: all games are supplied as DLC and all movies are from streaming services.

If you want to be able to play your PS4 disc collection and/or buy secondhand PS5 game discs and to sell the games you’ve finished with then the BluRay edition is the one to buy. It’s also a good move if you have slow broadband.

The second option is fine if you have a fast broadband connection, no legacy PS4 game discs, don’t tend to sell your old games and don’t tend to buy secondhand discs.

There was a belief the the "Superior" Blu-Ray" Technology was going to take over the Disc Gaming and Movie Trends.

IT FAILED .  Instead of Gaming continuing on Disc Medium the various companies went to Downloading games.

Still many people have the Blu-Ray Disc Movies.

 Enough to make it profitable to proceed with some machines to continue with Blu-Ray Drives.

I own one, it is NOT WORTH the added Expense.
