Why do narcissist deflect the wrongdoing on the others?

Question

My sister is a narcissist and often she’ll accuse me of things that I don’t do it but she does. I have an aunt that’s distant from the family but apparently does the same thing and I know the family says she’s a narcissist. I can’t speak firsthand for the aunt but I know my sister is one.
