    b = number of bracelets

    He makes two more necklaces than bracelets

    b + 2 = number of necklaces

    n = number of beads

    --------------

    He uses 34 beads for each bracelet (b) and 72 beads for each necklace (b + 2)

    n = 34b + 72(b + 2)

    Distribute the 72

    n = 34b + 72b + 144

    Combine like terms

    n = 106b + 144 <–––––

    let x = number of bracelets then

    x+2 = number of necklaces

    34x = number of beads needed for bracelets

    72(x+2) = number of beads in necklaces

    total number of beads = 34x + 72(x+2)

                            = 34x +72x + 144

                           = 106x + 144
