How long after eating a significant amount of onion will a mouse die?

Update:

After weeks of dodging all the glue traps I decided to finally place an onion near where I assumed it was coming from and today I woke up and saw that the mouse ate a pretty good amount  and even left me a surprise. I am wondering how long it takes for onion to kill it and how does it kill it? I've tried researching this but couldn't find much.
