If you don't believe women should lead, isn't that identity politics in itself?

Sure, but so is saying old white guys shouldn't lead, plus not many people actually believe that women shouldn't lead. There's a whole movement that believes leaders should be chosen because of what their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. instead of supporting the best choice.

If you believe the best choice should step back and let someone else lead because of their identity, then you can't complain when someone else says someone shouldn't lead because of their identity.
