Why are the English languages in the US and the UK slightly different from each other?

    It started off as an act of defiance then became a cultural difference between the two countries once America gained independence from England

    Thousands of miles between them. Immigrants left England behind and kind of got stuck in a language time-warp for a while, until the more multicultural USA started making progress as a significant world power and British English started to pick up American English words.

    Slightly!!!!! I have to put the subtitles on to watch Hollywood films and I’m English

    The were far apart so their language evolved with different words and spellings over the years.
