Is it true that, in the USA, there is no difference between "black" and "white" culture?

Is it true that blacks and whites act the same way, talk the same way, eat the same foods, listen to the same music, dance to that music the same way, express their religions the same way, love their pets the same way, watch the same movies and TV shows?

American culture in general is a mix of sources, but one can certainly pick out things that are more associated with black people than with whites and vice-versa.  There are foods black people eat but whites usually do not; music that black people like much more than whites do; forms of dress; ways of speaking.

You'll find that a lot of black people "code-switch" and behave or speak differently when in the presence of other black people or in the presence of whites.  For example, I live in a neighborhood that is about 50% white and about 50% black.  There's a movie theater that is black-owned and that books a lot of black films.  When I've gone there to see one, I've found that the black audience talks to the screen a lot -- they are very vocal. But at a theater that is attended by many more white people, black people in the audience don't do this.

    That's definitely a cultural difference.

But in general, black American culture has influenced white American culture, and white culture has influenced black culture.  American culture as a whole is, as a result, very rich and diverse.

There is a lot less difference than either group is willing to admit. The differences are magnified by a sensationalist media and agitators with personal agendas.

There’s one culture in USA and that’s American culture... influenced by Europeans, African Americans, native Americans. From food, to clothing and to music. It’s a mixture of different cultures. But in general the culture in America is no different than how it is in Canada. Except that Canada is a little more calm and reserved. There’s some white people who act like black people who are influenced by them but that’s very little. There’s still a difference between whites and blacks. Black men are more thuggish and have horrible attitudes and white men are more sincere, honest and better mannerisms same go for the white women. Black people also have a different mindset compared to any other ethnic group

Religion isn't a black or white issue, that's the historic difference between a Latino (Roman Latin Catholic) and Anglo (Anglican Protestant). It's the Anglos who started to attach skin color to religion but since the pride groups have lied so much about what those words mean, it's kind of pointless to talk about it now.

Past that, yes they're basically the same. What see is a difference in pop trends or people acting differently because they're trying to prove a point.

In broad-brush terms, everyone wants the same things.  The details are different but the desires and goals are similar.  Because we are all people.

We want to live in peace in a decent neighborhood.  We want to have friends around us.  We want to visit with family members every so often.  We pay taxes and go to work and we have time set aside for playing.  We want our children to grow up with a better life than we did.  That is equally true for ALL cultures.

No, we don't eat exactly the same foods.  We don't listen to the same music.  We don't dance the same way.  We in the USA are an incomplete mixture of different contributing cultures.  To the degree that we mix, we are the same.  There are those sub-groups that mix better than others.  But under the skin we are all alike.  We are just --- people.

Both are Anglo culture from Britain. There's no difference except for minor ones.

That's the most ridiculous question I've ever read on YA.

    Of course not.

It's also true that regardless of skin color, people in Louisiana are known to have many cultural differences with people in any other state of the union...

And that's true of the other 49 states too.

But they have the most fun in Louisiana...

Fried chicken is Scottish. Waffles are Belgian. Peanut butter was invented by the Incas. Potato chips were invented by a white Englishman named William Kitchiner. BBQ is taíno food. BBQ sauce was invented by English, French and German Americans. Gumbo is cajun. Cornbread is Native American. Chicken fried chicken is Austrian. Pancakes are Greek.

White people invented synthesizer, electric guitar, electric bass guitar, saxophone and computer (which is used to make hip hop beats/music). Blues has Celtic influences. Jazz has classical influences and uses pianos (Italian instrument) and saxophone (Belgian instrument). The German electronic band Kraftwerk influenced house, techno and hip hop. All "black genres" use instruments invented by non-blacks. The blues was first sung in the English language. Same with all the other popular "black genres". Even tap dancing originated from England. Scottish people invented flyting which is basically rap battle music that predates hip hop culture.

Basketball and football were invented by white people (James Naismith and Walter Camp).

Nike was created by a White American (Phil Knight). Adidas was created by an actual Nazi (Adolf Dassler).
