What is the correct colouring of Scotch whisky, if most Malt houses now add caramel to bring it to its correct colouring?
Update:
Yanks only answer if you know that Glendiffich and every other Single Malt house now adds caramel colouring...google it

They can do that with blended Scotch whisky but not with single malts. Each single malt has its own color which varies according to age.

Whiskey is colorless when it is made the color comes from the barrels it is aged in. Not all barrels are going to have the same degree of coloring imparted to the Whiskey. Many manufactures will therefore mix the lighter ones with the darker ones to keep color consistent. That is unless you purchase the entire barrel.
